Free Tours, Festivals & Fun in Funky Rotterdam

Free Tours, Festivals & Fun in Funky Rotterdam

Rotterdam is constantly adding to its already ‘full to the brim’ cool status! Just when we though it couldn’t get any better, we discovered there are even more FREE city tours and FABULOUS festivals, all equaling… non-stop FUN!

Frank from Frank Tours Rotterdam recently got in touch to let us know that he has added even more city tours to the FREE list for the guests of Hostel Ani & Haakien. The tours are also open for Couch Surfers and its independent traveller community. So, of course our first question to Frank was… what’s the complete run down of tours you currently have on offer?

Free Tours Rotterdam - Frank

Hit the city streets…

Highlights Walking Tour: Tuesdays 11am, up to 2 hours, ending at Markthal

A tour of Rotterdam’s most striking architecture in 2 hours or less. Anecdotes and stories about the bombardment and reconstruction will bring the city to life.

The Alternative Tour (bike): Wednesdays 11am, 3 hours, ending in Rotterdam West

Visit two rooftop gardens and parks with secret cafes, a warehouse converted into an entrepreneurial food hub in the old Red Light district of Rotterdam, the Euromast Tower, the Maastunnel cycling underneath the river, both of the monuments of WWII (one is literally called ‘forgotten’ bombardment). There is a short break half way through the tour. Bikes can be rented at the hostel but availability cannot be guaranteed and priority will be given to guests of the hostel.

City by Night Tour: Wednesdays 9pm, up to 2 hours, ending at a bar

Free Tours Rotterdam

Walk from Central station to the Hofbogen district includes, graffiti, war history, an example of award-nominated urban planning, the old station of Rotterdam and much more! The tour ends with a drink at a local bar to get to know each other and exchange travel stories. The bar is optional to the tour but it’s definitely worth staying for!

Graffiti and Street Art Tour: Fridays, up to 2 hours, ending at a bar

An almost 2 hour tour of some of the best graffiti of Rotterdam. Street art, sculptures, viewing platform are all part of the fun. What better way to spend a Friday night that a walk and talk with a beer and a group of travellers? The tour finishes at a bar to get to know each other. The bar and the route of the tour are kept secret until we begin. Note, this is not a bar crawl but a nice cold beer to enjoy the completion of the tour!*

*The tours are FREE because they are based on tips. Click here for full details & here to reserve yourself a free space.
